100 Wines Pleasure to drink smart & authentic\r\n\r\n” A Bordeaux that will mow the lawn “\r\n\r\n” This is not because of its relief ( the peak doesn’t exceed 43 meters ) that the AOC Haut-Médoc distinguishes itself from the Medoc, but because this huge appellation ( close to 5000 ha ) hosts some of the stars from Bordeaux with Margaux, Saint-Julien, Pauillac & Saint-Estèphe. Some stars with prices of stars to serve only on special occasions. This aristocracy is overshadowing the Haut-Médoc, which however, no shortage of beautiful bottles for a less exceptional use. Among the Crus Bourgeois especially.\r\n\r\nA very old estate\r\n\r\nChâteau Cambon La Pelouse, classified Cru Bourgeois Supérieur in 2003 is a good example. This very old estate is appreciated by the English from the 17th century. Because of the lawn\r\n( pelouse in french ) may be ?\r\nMoreover, it grows even between the vines : the vineyard is covered with grass to prevent weeds and reduce yields. Because the “new” owner, Jean-Pierre Marie, had the good idea to entrust the cellar to Claude Gros, Languedoc Oenologist – known for quality wines such as château de la Négly & Clos des Truffiers who undertook the conversion of Cambon to Organic\r\n( already six hectares in 2010 ).\r\nAccustomed to the heat, Claude Gros is able to protect the freshness of the grapes denying the leaf removal improperly practiced in Bordeaux, by sorting the dessicated grains & prefering the pruning to the falls of the grapes. If we add that he limits the new oak and the filtration, we can say that it avoids all the flaws in fashion in the Bordeaux region.\r\n\r\nThe vintage 2005 is one of the best success of Cambon, & the quality of the 2007 demonstrates the ability of the team’s estate, discipline and sorting, to take advantage of a difficult vintage. With its fine tannins, this digest wine, very delicate and who will keep a good ten years is, seen its price, a very good value. “\r\nEric Conan in Marianne.
