
Water is not always a winegrower’s favourite element, but the 4th August 2016 was the day that saved the 2016 vintage. The 10 mm of rain that fell kick-started the grapes’ colour change, allowing the vine’s normal growth cycle to continue. Apart from this, July and August were the driest for years.
It was a radiant summer with 3- to 4-day periods of extreme heat separated by more temperate days. We look forward to magnificent fruit in our tanks around the 20th September.
